This was a special journey, as being refused a meeting by the subjects did not make us feel discouraged at all. While the press and media were praising the brave actions of Mr. Quang and Mr. Sanh for jumping into the sea to save Mr. Cuong, to them, this was a matter of course. They believed there was not much to tell, because as people of Ly Son, anyone would have done the same if they found themselves in that situation.
It was from that refusal that we expanded the story from three Ly Son locals to observing the rhythm of life and the people here. From there, we realized those qualities are not just confined to this island, but are deeply embedded in the good nature of the Vietnamese people in general.
